Overview
Considered the source of life and prosperity to ancient Egyptians, the Nile has played one of the most important roles in the history of Egypt.
The annual flooding of this river and the rich black soil it carried to its banks are the main reason behind the formation of the Egyptian civilization as well as its growth into the world’s first recognizable nation state in c.3150 BCE. By providing the fertile soil that changed the core nature of a once arid desert land, the Nile singlehandedly birthed the Egypt we know today.
Is it any wonder the Egyptians call it “The Father of Life”?
